Wednesday June 4, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am MDT
This session is geared for teachers K-12 and their associated content and curriculum (from arts to social studies) and will include Idaho's Statewide General Education ways of knowing.  The majority of land in Idaho (55% or ~ 28.7 million acres) is rangeland (the sagebrush steppe).  Many of Idaho's pressing issues intersect with rangelands, including water resources, wildfires, wildlife health, invasive species, and economic development.  Learners will be introduced to resources curated by the Idaho Rangeland Resource Commission and use Artificial Intelligence to explore and make connections with existing curriculum.  In addition, staff from IRRC, and researchers from U of I, BSU, and ISU will be present to further explore ideas, connections, and implementation of hands on activities specific to your class.

Time line:
10% Using introductions to facilitate deeper learning.
20% Exploration of Ecology to include what that looks like outside your classroom.
10% Discovery of Content Standards/learning outcomes
20% Introduction to AI - Google NotebookLM - open an account, start loading materials and making queries.
30% Integration of AI tools, content standards/learning outcomes
 - Project: each learner identifies/develops/critiques an activity specific to content standard, compare/contrast AI with self, include assessment.
10% Reflection/What will you do next?
