About me
Dr. Julio Castañeda joined the College of Southern Idaho in the fall of 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in genetics, cell biology, and biomedical research. Prior to CSI, he spent a year teaching at the College of Idaho, where he led courses in Genetics, Human Genetics, and Cell Biology.
Dr. Castañeda began his academic journey at Oxnard Community College and UC Davis before earning a Ph.D. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University. Following graduate studies, he pursued postdoctoral research at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. His career then took him abroad, where he served as an assistant professor at Osaka University in Japan from 2016 to 2023 in the department of Experimental Genome Research, contributing to advancements in molecular mechanisms in fertility and reproduction.
Now back in the U.S., Dr. Castañeda is committed to enhancing academic programs by emphasizing rigor and consistency in curricula, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future careers.
